Mental Health Occupational Therapy naturally incorporates a coaching approach. This provides a powerful combination that brings together the clinical knowledge and depth of therapy with evidence-based coaching.

Occupational Therapy (OT) is an evidence-based health and social care profession regulated by the Health Care Professions Council and has been integral within our NHS and Social Services for decades. As such, it can be found in health facilities across the globe. Trained in all areas of physical, developmental, and mental health it is arguably the most holistic of the therapeutic professions and is centred on moving you forward into living a  fulfilled life with a focus on activity.

This can range from putting in place organisational tools to help you make your bed, brush your teeth, formulate a meal plan or identify passions or setting longer-term life goals such as independent living and getting a job.

This is where we can help. Together we will make a plan, and then, more importantly, help you to implement it. Together we can move forward.

Over the past 100 years, our clinical profession has brought together the pillars of good mental health; psychology, movement, nutrition, environment and sleep alongside bespoke activity as a way of treating and managing the full spectrum of mental health challenges. Our mission is to collaborate with you to provide compassionate, solution-focused therapy that smashes through the negative feedback loop and brings about sustainable positive change. We take therapy off the couch and into the real world. We are a London-based practice with branches throughout the UK. If you are feeling stuck and you can’t get going – get in touch. We can help.

THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY DESCRIBES OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY:

“OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY (OT) is a science, degree-based, health and social care profession, regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council. Occupational therapy takes a “whole-person” approach to both mental and physical health and wellbeing, and enables individuals to achieve their full potential. Occupational Therapy provides practical support to empower people to facilitate recovery and overcome barriers, preventing them from doing the activities (or occupations) that matter to them. This support increases people’s independence and satisfaction in al aspects of life. “Occupation” as a term refers to practical and purposeful activities that allow people to live independently and have a sense of identity. This could be essential day-to-day tasks such as self-care, work or leisure.”

We founded Purpose People because we recognised an urgent need to make Mental Health Occupational Therapy accessible beyond the NHS — bringing this evidence-based, recovery-focused approach into the private sector.

We know that Mental Health OTs are uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between insight and action. We help people turn therapeutic understanding into meaningful change in their daily lives — at home, at work, in relationships, and in the community.

We combine psychological insight with practical rehabilitation. Our approach restores function, builds confidence, and supports people to live with greater independence and purpose.

We feel genuinely privileged to do this work — helping people move from surviving to thriving, and supporting lasting, meaningful recovery for you or your loved one.

Purpose People and Nicky have been brilliant with my son, getting him to a stage where he is able to do things that a year ago I really didn’t think would ever be possible.
