Autism Assessment (ADOS-2) – For Teenagers & Adults from 13 years and up

Price: £1,700

If you’re wondering whether you might be autistic, you’re not alone—and you’re in the right place. We offer a comprehensive autism assessment using the ADOS-2, carried out by a highly experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) in close collaboration with a Consultant Psychiatrist

The ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – Second Edition) is a standardised and clinically approved face-to-face assessment. It involves a series of structured activities and conversations designed to explore how you communicate, interact socially, manage emotions, and respond to different situations.

A Unique and Thorough Dual-Discipline Approach

One of the things that sets us apart is that this isn’t a one-person assessment. Your evaluation is completed by both a medical doctor (Consultant Psychiatrist) and an Occupational Therapist—two different lenses working together for a fuller picture.
  • The psychiatrist brings a medical and diagnostic perspective, considering mental health, neurodevelopmental conditions, and how different diagnoses may overlap.
  • The occupational therapist focuses on daily life, sensory processing, emotional regulation, and how autism may show up functionally in real-world situations.

Together, this dual-discipline approach means:

  • More depth and accuracy
  • All information is reviewed by the OT and the Psychiatrist.
  • Greater confidence in your diagnosis and recommendations

You’re not just getting one opinion—you’re getting the benefit of two specialists who bring their expertise together to give you a well-rounded, thoughtful, and personalised assessment. This adds real value and makes the process more thorough than assessments done by just one clinician.

Who Is This For?

People come to us for autism assessments for many reasons. You might relate to one or more of the following:

  • Struggling in social situations—feeling unsure of how to connect with others, or frequently feeling misunderstood.
  • Sensory sensitivities—feeling overwhelmed by certain lights, sounds, textures, or smells.
  • Rigid thinking or routines—finding it hard to adapt to changes in plans or routines.
  • Burnout or shutdowns—experiencing intense fatigue after social interaction or periods of masking.
  • Difficulties with communication—misunderstanding social cues or feeling unsure how to express yourself in group settings.

These experiences don’t always mean someone is autistic—but they are common reasons why people explore an autism diagnosis later in life or during adolescence.

What to Expect

Setting

Your assessment will take place in a calm, private, and confidential therapy room designed to help you feel at ease.
  • Pre-Screening: Before your ADOS-2 appointment, we will email you some brief pre-screening forms to complete. These take approximately 30 minutes and help us confirm that the ADOS-2 is the right next step for you.
  • Session Duration: All sessions will take between 1.5 to 2 hours. Short breaks will be offered if needed,
  • Support: If you would like to bring a family member or friend for support, this is encouraged

Your Occupational Therapist will guide you through the process in a warm and supportive manner. There’s no need to prepare in a specific way, but reflecting on your experiences—particularly around communication, sensory sensitivities, and social interactions—can be helpful.

If you have any past reports, school records, or relevant documents, feel free to bring them (scanned copies) to the session or email them to us prior to the session.

After the Assessment

  • You’ll receive a detailed written report outlining the findings of your ADOS-2 assessment.
  • Your OT will review the findings in partnership with our Consultant Psychiatrist
  • Together, they will make a joint diagnostic decision, ensuring that the outcome is thoughtful, accurate, and clinically sound.
  • A resource pack will be provided explaining how ASD can impact your life and some tools/strategies that might help. As well as information on local and national support.

Follow-Up Support – £200 per hour

Following the assessment, we offer a feedback session to walk you through your report, answer your questions, and explore next steps.
Whether you receive a diagnosis or not, we will provide recommendations for support, self-understanding, and access to services that can help you thrive.

We offer ongoing OT support for those who wish to explore:
  • Emotional regulation
