More than a walk. A gentle step back into life.
Our Occupational Therapy Walking Group is not simply a social meet-up or fitness session. It is a thoughtfully structured, therapeutic group designed to support people who may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, loss of confidence, or social withdrawal.
Many people find that leaving the house, being around others, or navigating public spaces can feel overwhelming. This group offers a safe, supported way to begin rebuilding confidence  one step at a time.

What makes this different?

This is an Occupational Therapy led programme, designed with a clear therapeutic purpose. Each session gently supports:

  • Confidence in social situations
  • Reduced anxiety in public spaces
  • Rebuilding routine and structure
  • Physical movement to support mental well-being
  • Mindfulness and grounding in nature
  • Developing independence in everyday tasks
  • A sense of belonging and shared experience
The group includes a 30–40 minute walk in Hyde Park, simple mindfulness or grounding exercises, and time to connect over a coffee. Conversation is gently facilitated with neutral, accessible topics to help ease social pressure. You are free to engage at your own pace.
We also support the practical skills that underpin independence – arriving on time, planning travel, ordering a drink, managing small transactions  all within a natural, relaxed setting.

Who is it for?

This group is suitable for adults who:

  • Feel isolated or withdrawn
  • Experience anxiety in public or social settings
  • Want to build confidence leaving the house
  • Are looking for gentle, structured support back into community life

No prior fitness level is required. The pace is steady and adaptable.
