Greta-Mae McDowell
Greta-Mae is an Occupational Therapist who trained and qualified in New Zealand, before relocating to the UK in 2023. She has experience working across acute inpatient and community mental health services within both public and private healthcare settings.
She has a specialist interest in OCD and related disorders, delivering CBT-informed Occupational Therapy including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), alongside functional assessment and ADL-focused rehabilitation. Her work focuses on supporting individuals to re-engage with everyday activities and build confidence through structured, meaningful change.
Greta-Mae has experience supporting individuals with a range of mental health presentations, including anxiety, depression, and neurodivergent profiles, and has worked within specialist multidisciplinary teams. She is particularly skilled in translating therapeutic interventions into practical, real-world strategies that support independence and long-term recovery.
She works collaboratively with clients, using warmth, humour, and a straightforward approach to both support and appropriately challenge avoidance and unhelpful patterns. Greta-Mae believes in “walking alongside” clients while also encouraging them to step outside of their comfort zone, building confidence, belief, and evidence through doing.
Greta-Mae is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
